Practicing relaxation techniques before bed, such as meditation or deep – breathing exercises, can also help reduce stress and improve the chances of falling asleep, especially in the face of climate – related anxiety.

On a larger scale, governments and organizations must prioritize climate action to mitigate the root causes of these sleep – disrupting temperature increases. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting renewable energy sources, and implementing sustainable urban planning strategies can help slow down the rate of climate change and, in turn, reduce the frequency and intensity of heatwaves and other climate – related sleep disruptors. Additionally, investing in mental health services and support systems can help communities cope with the psychological toll of climate – related events and reduce the associated sleep problems.

Climate change is having a profound impact on sleep, with rising temperatures and extreme weather events emerging as significant contributors to insomnia and other sleep disorders.
